Animal Life in the Rio Dulce

Several peolple have been asking about the types of animals that are native to the Rio Dulce and especially what types of fish.
The area is jungle so there there are thousands of exotic/jungle animals and plants. But here is a list of some of the animals. Manatee, jaguar, spider monkey, howler monkey, alligators, crocodiles, and iguanas. We have not seen any of the for mentioned form our property but all of these are found in the area. There is a really cool lizard that is here on the property that is called a Basilisk Lizard and sorry if this is offensive but it is nick-named the JesusChrist Lizard for its ability to run on its back legs across water. I do that some times myself. Yea right!
Here is a list of fish. Talapia, Mojarra (related to sunfish of perch), robalo (snook), machaca (shad), white mullet, tiger fish and catfish to name a few.
